On Monday, October 29, 2025, professional fishing activities began for the containment of the catfish in the Avigliana Lakes Natural Park. The initiative is one of the actions of the Life Predator project, of which the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps are partners, aimed at containing the Silurus glanis, the aquatic predator that represents an invasive alien species in the freshwater basins of Southern Europe.

On the late afternoon of Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the park rangers of the Management Authority of the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps, in constant contact with the Director, intervened in Val Chisone, at a pasture in Pian dell’Alpe (municipality of Usseaux), following a report from a farmer who stated that he had been injured by a wolf while trying to prevent the predation of one of his sheep. Below is the reconstruction of the facts and the commitment of the Authority.

As we know, concerning food, lepidopterans are very selective because they mainly feed on very specific plant species, especially in the larval stage. In the case of Anthocharis euphenoides, also known as the Provence aurora, the species considered to be its preferred food source may not be the one that has been believed until now.
