We are a public body, established by the Piedmont Region in 2012, to protect and manage a vast natural, landscape, and cultural heritage that includes four Natural Parks (Laghi di Avigliana, Orsiera Rocciavré, Gran Bosco di Salbertrand, and Val Troncea), two Special Natural Reserves (Orrido di Chianocco and Orrido di Foresto), and 12 special conservation areas belonging to the Natura 2000 Network.
We have important tasks of protecting and promoting nature. Our objectives include protecting natural resources through sustainable management strategies, promoting social and sustainable use, and spreading culture and environmental education, promoting educational use and supporting schools of all levels and universities on environmental and sustainability education issues, integrating the institutional skills of managing entities with the overall objectives and strategies of the regional ecological network, and involving the public through associative forms to support actions aimed at achieving our goals.
Since 2006, we have been in charge of the Ungulates Reference Center, in association with the Protected Areas of the Maritime Alps and the Protected Areas of the Sesia Valley, and we closely collaborate with the Protected Areas of Ossola in the Typical Alpine Fauna Reference Center, and with the Protected Areas of the Maritime Alps in the Alpine Vultures and Raptors Reference Center.
In the historical and cultural field, we manage and enhance important sites: the Certosa di Montebenedetto, in the heart of the Orsiera Rocciavrè Natural Park, the Casa Escartons, a museum house of the Val Troncea Natural Park, and the Ecomuseo Colombano Romean: work and tradition in the Upper Susa Valley desired and managed since 1996 by the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Natural Park and recognized by the Piedmont Region (under Regional Law No. 31/1995 and subsequent Law No. 13/2018).
