On Thursday, May 8 at 5:30 PM in Oulx, Gad district, the fifth appointment of a series of 12 meetings dedicated to the Occitan language in the Upper Susa Valley Tournâ a menâ la bartavèllë (return to leading the chatter, to speak our language).

Speaking Occitan residents of the area are invited to collect testimonies useful for recovering the various local dialects, from Chiomonte to Sauze di Cesana, from Sestriere to Bardonecchia.

The initiative, carried out by Chambra d'Oc on the occasion of the Chantar l'uvern festival, arises from the desire to recover the culture and local speech of the Upper Susa Valley. Each evening, to which all Occitan speakers from the Upper Valley will be invited, will focus on a specific theme and excerpts from a local Occitan writer will be read (tradition, landscape, reading, proverbs and sayings, etc.). Renato Sibille, a local specialist in Occitan literature and language, will provide a historical introduction followed by readings to stimulate the stories of those present. There will also be moments of exchange and discussion: actively participating in conversations will help stimulate memories and assist in regaining the language with small achievements, such as learning some everyday phrases.

As part of the seleventh edition of "Chantar l'Uvèrn. From Epiphany to Easter, fragments of Occitan, Francoprovençal, and French language and culture": the cultural festival that values original creations and promotes the Occitan, Francoprovençal, and French language and culture through a rich and widespread territorial animation with musical, theatrical, anthropological, documentary, and environmental events.
