Genepì

Genepì is a small plant that grows on scree and stony ground at altitudes above 2300 m, but is also grown in the mountains on land and in appropriate positions, for the production of herbal teas and liqueurs.

Popular culture divides the male genepì from the female one, but in reality they are different species of the Artemisia genus: A. mutellina, A. glacialis, A. spicata and A. genepy.

If macerated in alcohol it produces a golden yellow liqueur with green reflections, while if distilled with alcohol vapors in a saturated environment, it produces a white liqueur with intense and delicate aromas.

The other typical herbs of the area are chamomile, lemon balm, mallow, peppermint, thyme, savory, rosemary, sage and oregano.
