The territories of the Cottian Alps Parks are characterized by an environment, mostly mountainous or hilly, in which traditional agriculture is still practiced.
Mountain agriculture has strong cultural and environmental value and represents an important tool for the protection and enhancement of the territory and local identity.
It is a sustainable agriculture that aims at quality production such as DOC wines or PGI chestnuts and the recovery of ancient varieties such as cereals (ottofile corn, red gentil wheat), mountain potatoes (piatlina, ratta, vitelotte noire) or the renowned flat onion from Drubiaglio.
An economy that responds to the needs of local communities and increasingly represents a driving force for other sectors of the economy such as tourism, crafts and trade.
