Tournâ a menâ la bartavèllë: 12 meetings for the Occitan language in the Upper Susa Valley

On Thursday, May 15 at 5:30 PM in Sauze d'Oulx, former school in the Jouveceaux district, the sixth meeting of a series of 12 encounters dedicated to the Occitan language in the High Susa Valley Tournâ a menâ la bartavèllë (returning to chat, to speak our language).

Occitan speakers from the area are invited to gather useful testimonies to recover the various local dialects, from Chiomonte to Sauze di Cesana, from Sestriere to Bardonecchia.

The initiative, organized by Chambra d'Oc on the occasion of the Chantar l'uvern exhibition, arises from the desire to recover the culture and local speech of the High Susa Valley. Each evening, to which all Occitan speakers from the High Valley will be invited, will focus on a specific theme and excerpts from a local Occitan writer will be read (tradition, landscape, reading, proverbs and sayings, etc.). Renato Sibille, a local specialist in Occitan literature and language, will provide a historical introduction followed by readings to stimulate the stories of those present. There will also be moments of exchange and discussion: actively participating in conversations will help stimulate memories and assist in reacquiring the language with small milestones, such as learning some everyday phrases.

From Epiphany to Easter, fragments of Occitan, Francoprovençal and French language and culture": the cultural showcase that values original creations and promotes the Occitan, Francoprovençal, and French language and culture through arich and widespread territorial animation with musical, theatrical, anthropological, documentary, and environmental events.
