On the morning of Monday October 5, the guardianship personnel of the Natural Park of the Lakes of Avigliana thwarted an attempt at theft at a private property located on Via Monginevro, in the area of the Lago Grande. Upon returning from a patrol of the territory, two park rangers observed a man climbing over a fence and proceeded to stop him. While they were identifying him, they heard noises coming from inside the enclosure, identifying a second person whom they invited to come out for identification. In the meantime, they activated the local Carabinieri station, which sent a patrol to the scene to take the two individuals into custody, who were subsequently taken to the station in a state of detention.

Although this type of action does not fall within the usual duties that park rangers typically perform in their daily work, it is their prerogative as officers and agents of judicial police and public security. In a park authority, the guardianship service primarily focuses its attention on crimes against the natural heritage, although in more populated areas like the Natural Park of the Lakes of Avigliana, it can happen that they intervene in cases of crimes against private property or public safety.
