Winter is the most challenging season for many species living in the mountains. Winter hiking and ski mountaineering activities can disrupt - sometimes threaten - the delicate ecological balance of an environment already strained by natural elements.
For some weeks now, a debate has erupted regarding the availability of parking at the former sanatoriums of Pra Catinat, in the Municipality of Fenestrelle, and within the Orsiera Rocciavré Natural Park, at the point of winter closure (October 31 - June 15) of provincial road 172 leading to Colle delle Finestre.
Located in western Piedmont on the border with France, the Chisone, Germanasca, and Pellice valleys are studied in this volume from the perspective of communication routes and the mobility of people, goods, and ideas.
Thanks to the collaboration of volunteers, organizations, and associations, 35 monitoring stations have been set up in the Susa Valley, Chisone Valley, Pellice Valley, and Germanasca Valley with the participation of 65 observers.
The municipal road from Balboutet to Pian dell’Alpe is closed for the winter season 2024-2025 from November 30, 2024, to April 30, 2025.
Starting from November 22, 2024, in order to allow the regular carrying out of sports activities along the cross-country ski track, vehicular traffic is prohibited along the valley road and all forest tracks located on the left and right orographic side of the Chisone stream, between the hamlet of Granges and Alpe Meis in the Val Troncea Natural Park.

Starting from Monday, November 11, 2024, a forest construction site managed by the Consorzio Forestale Alta Val di Susa will be launched within the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Natural Park on the municipal lot of Oulx, in the area known as "Bosco della Sella" - "ël Pshi(t) Bô", between the Col Blegier road, the section leading to the entrance of Enfers, and trail no. 3. In terms of the use of the protected area, the work will involve the closure of trail no. 3, in the section from Monfol to the Enfers-Blegier road, used for timber extraction, for approximately one month until the completion of the project.
They do not hunt in the parks.
In Piedmont, Regional Law no. 19/2009, article 8 states that "In protected areas established and classified as a natural park and nature reserve, the following prohibitions apply: a) hunting activities; b) introduction and use of weapons, explosives, and any destructive or capture means by individuals, unless nominatively authorized."
