Avigliana: the BIOAQUA center… open doors

In Avigliana, scientific research meets citizens - On Friday, October 2, 2026, starting at 5 PM, the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont, Liguria, and Aosta Valley (IZSPLV) will open the doors of the Regional Reference Center for Aquatic Environments Biodiversity (Centro BiOAQUA) at Via Lino Maritano 22 (Località Bertassi, Avigliana).

The IZSPLV invites you to participate in an afternoon dedicated to scientific outreach and the exploration of local natural heritage. An event that enhances the role of science as an accessible resource serving the community, strengthening the environmental awareness of citizens and the connection between the Research Center and the community.

The goal of the meeting is to bring citizens closer to the scientific and applied research activities that the IZSPLV engages in, showcasing the impact of the work of researchers on the protection of aquatic ecosystems.

With guided tours of the laboratories, outreach meetings, and interactive experiences, visitors will have the opportunity to delve into some of the most crucial themes for modern ecology. Specifically, strategies and monitoring for the management and control of invasive alien species, diagnostic techniques for studying the contamination of aquatic environments, and projects dedicated to environmental sustainability and sustainable aquaculture will be presented.

The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Avigliana and the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps, which attests to the synergy between local institutions in protecting the environment.
