Times of the Sacred and Times of Man - Pinacoteca G.A. Levis
On Sunday, April 12 at 11 AM at Chiomonte Pinacoteca G.A. Levis, Via Vittorio Emanuele II 75, on the occasion of the exhibition Treetops and Table Legs thematic visit Times of the Sacred and Times of Man: Material Culture as a Source in the Artistic Practice of Jacopo Rinaldi and G.A. Levi.
The temporary exhibition Treetops and Table Legs by Jacopo Rinaldi is the result of an artist residency that, starting from objects of material culture preserved in ethnographic museums and inspired by the past and present festivals and rituals of the Susa Valley, has generated a series of works that integrate traditional craftsmanship with an analysis of archetypical form. Rinaldi traces a recurring principle of local craftsmanship in rotation: from the spindle for hand-spinning to the top, passing through dancing spindles (such as the Pouento of Chiomonte), conifer tops used in tree rituals and religious processions, from ancient times to today. The wooden sculptures on display become essential forms that connect the past and contemporary, ritual and play, technique and narrative.
