Tree tops and table legs - Pinacoteca G.A. Levis
Sunday, March 1 at 11 AM in Chiomonte, G.A. Levis Pinacoteca, Via Vittorio Emanuele II 75, thematic visit Tree Tops and Table Legs: Archetypal Forms in Motion.
The temporary exhibition Tree Tops and Table Legs by Jacopo Rinaldi is the result of the artist residency that, starting from the objects of material culture preserved in ethnographic museums and inspired by the festivals and rituals, past and present, of the Valsusa area, has given life to a series of works that integrate traditional craftsmanship with an analysis of archetypal form. Rinaldi traces a recurring principle of local craftsmanship in rotation: from the spindle for hand spinning to the top, passing through the dancing spindles (like the Pouento of Chiomonte), and conifer tips used in arboreal rituals and religious processions, from ancient times to today. The wooden sculptures on display become essential forms that connect the past and contemporary, ritual and play, technique and storytelling.
