The protected areas partnering in the BiodivTourAlps project have launched a digital communication campaign to inform new mountain visitors about the rules and behaviors that help reduce the impact of tourism activities on biodiversity.
The Cinque Terre and Stelvio national parks, symbols of the Italian landscape, have long been facing the increase in tourism with innovative strategies to combine the preservation of biodiversity and the management of tourist flows. Invited by the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps, they shared their experiences in a webinar as part of the cross-border cooperation project Alcotra BiodivTourAlps 2021/2027 that took place on February 10.
Both parks monitor tourism to manage "overtourism," trying to distribute visitors over time and space.

It has been two very intense days but, at the same time, interesting and engaging. On Monday, March 23, and Tuesday, March 24, the great annual conference for presenting the scientific activities carried out by the Park Authority took place at the headquarters of the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps in Salbertrand. An opportunity to present the results of the Alcotra Aclimo and BiodivTourAlps projects, collaborations with universities and research institutes, and the monitoring carried out by park rangers and staff from the Cozie Alps Parks.

The 2026 Calendar is available in a cross-border format titled: "We are in the Park! Nous sommes dans le Parc!". An invitation to respect simple rules, not only because we are in a Park, not because it is forbidden but because it is the right thing to do!

Even during the summer of 2025, monitoring activities are underway to measure the impacts of tourist attendance on mountain flora and fauna. After an initial experimental phase conducted in 2024, the work continues within the Interreg BiodivTour Alps Project along Provincial Road 173 of the Assietta, where intense human presence occurs in a fragile high-altitude environment during the summer.
