The 2019 calendar of the Cottian Alps Parks is dedicated to the ibex.
Ibex have been reintroduced in many areas of the Alps, including the Susa Valley and the Chisone Valley, taking them from the Gran Paradiso National Park, the only area where they have not been exterminated.
The European project LEMED IBEX, of which the Authority is a partner, aims to improve the conservation of the ibex (Capra ibex) on the Alpine ridge between Italy and France, through shared international management that includes common monitoring protocols, genetic and health analyses, identification of ecological corridors suitable for ensuring contact between the various subpopulations present in the study area.
