The 1998 calendar of the Orsiera Rocciavré Natural Park and the Leccio di Chianocco Reserve is dedicated to ungulates.
They are mammals whose final phalanx of the digits is covered by a horny hoof. This is an adaptation for running as most ungulates are herbivores and find fleeing to be the best defense against predators.
Even in a natural park, observing wild ungulates in the wild is not easy, but when the encounter finally happens, the excitement is guaranteed!
