The 2018 calendar of the Cozie Alp Parks is dedicated to the amphibians of Piedmont.
Amphibians are a group of animals with ancient origins and a worldwide distribution. They are already present in fossils from the Devonian period (400 million years ago) and on all the emerged lands, from Indochina to Patagonia.
Their name describes their main characteristic: amphi double and bio life (in ancient Greek). They live in water in the early part of their lives and on land as adults. In this way, they preserve the ancestral traits of a fundamental evolutionary transition: the shift from life in the sea to life on land.
