Redevelopment of the Fontana della Gerpula Trail - Amprimo Refuge

The project is ready for application to the Regional FESR 2021-2027 Call

Thanks to the joint work of the Protected Areas Management Authority of the Cozie Alps and the Municipality of Bussoleno in obtaining the consents of private owners, the final phase of defining the project “Interventions for the redevelopment of the trail from Fontana della Gerpula to Rifugio Amprimo – Municipality of Bussoleno” has been initiated.

This is an important effort to restore, for exclusive hiking use, the ancient municipal mule track that connected Fontana della Gerpula to Rifugio Amprimo, passing through the village of Cristetti. The recovery of the route, besides its historical significance, aims to mitigate the damage caused by abandonment and to improve accessibility to the refuge with a more passable route compared to those starting from the villages of Cortavetto and Cervetto.

The two entities have identified the Parks of the Cozie Alps as the body that will take care of applying for funding for the project to the regional FESR 2021-2027 call “Interventions for the hydrogeological arrangement of landslide situations in mountainous, hilly and riparian areas, aimed also at the resilience of territories.” If funded, the works will have a FESR contribution equal to 100% of the expenditure to be incurred, without additional costs for the Municipality and Park, up to a maximum of 500 thousand Euros.

The planned works will consist of significant hydrogeological arrangements with natural engineering techniques incorporated into the protected context of the Orsiera Rocciavrè Natural Park. Without altering the functionality of the project, it is specified that where it has not been possible to obtain the consent of private owners, alternative design solutions have been planned in order not to affect their parcels.

The owners and the Municipality will be updated on the development of the project, the outcome of the application, and subsequently on the implementation process.
