On Friday, May 31st at 9:00 pm at the headquarters and visitor center of the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Natural Park, the new cahier of the Colombano Romena Ecomuseum "Vauban in the upper Dora valley - History and protagonists of the last French fortifications in the Dauphiné on this side of the mountains" edited by Eugenio Garoglio, with an introduction by Giovanni Cerino Badone and iconographic research by Oliver Joseph will be presented.
The historical research published enriches the series of cahiers of the Colombano Romean Ecomuseum and represents a tribute to the figure of the incomparable Sébastien La Prestre de Vauban, engineer of Louis XIV, perhaps the greatest strategist and designer of fortified works in Europe of his time. The cahier contains projects, memoirs, and unpublished drawings kept in the military archives of Vincennes, a French commune located in the eastern part of Paris, which allow us to reconstruct an unexpected scenario of the territory, from the second half of the 1600s, that could have changed the territory of the municipalities in the upper valley as we know it today.
The publication of the Ecomuseum was made possible with the great collaboration of the Alto Valle Susa Forestry Consortium which financed the research.
The event is free admission until seats are filled.
