Valanga del Beth - Immagine d'epoca
On Saturday, August 24, at 9.00 pm, at the headquarters and visitor center of the Val Troncea Nature Park, the screening of the documentary film "The Mines of Beth, in the footsteps of Pietro Giani", with park ranger Domenico Rosselli, will be repeated.
The documentary is produced by Graziella and Fabio Solimini Giani, written by Domenico Rosselli, with original music by Alessandro Russo and narrated by Roberto Pedicini.
The documentary, born from the careful reading of the memories that Cav. Pietro Giani (1806-1875) wrote in 1868 in Lugano, donated in the original by the heirs to the State Archives of Turin, deals with the activity of the family operating in Turin and in the Chisone and Germanasca Valleys, since the 17th century, where the stone and marble quarries were located.
The work is dedicated to the memory of the enterprise of exploiting the Beth Lead Mines in Val Troncea, reconstructed also thanks to numerous documents collected in the valley and the testimonies of people who remember those events. In particular, the Great Avalanche of 1904 is remembered, in perpetual memory of many lives tragically cut short, to which the authors have dedicated precious and engaging images.
The documentary, directed by Fabio Solimini Giani, a third-generation nephew of Pietro, benefits from the valuable contribution of numerous experts who enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity to bring the memory of a figure who will remain one of the forerunners of Piedmontese extractive entrepreneurship due to his personality and industrial vision.
