Cartolina storica - Colle del Beth
On Monday, August 12, at 9:00 PM, at the headquarters and visitor center of the Val Troncea Natural Park, screening of the documentary film "The Mines of Beth, in the footsteps of Pietro Giani", with park ranger Domenico Rosselli.
The documentary is produced by Graziella and Fabio Solimini Giani, written by Domenico Rosselli, with original music by Alessandro Russo, and narrated by Roberto Pedicini.
The documentary, born from the careful examination of the memoirs that Cav. Pietro Giani (1806-1875) wrote in 1868 in Lugano, donated in their original form by the heirs to the State Archive of Turin, deals with the activities of the family operating in Turin and in the Chisone and Germanasca Valleys, since the 17th century, where the stone and marble quarries were located.
The work is dedicated to the memory of the venture of exploiting the branching Mines of Beth in Val Troncea, reconstructed thanks to numerous documents collected in the valley and the testimonies of people who remember those events. In particular, the Great Avalanche of 1904 is remembered, in perpetual memory of many tragically lost lives to which the authors have dedicated precious and engaging images.
The documentary, directed by Fabio Solimini Giani, a third-generation nephew of Pietro, benefits from the valuable contribution of numerous experts who enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to bring to life the memory of a figure who will remain, for his personality and industrial vision, one of the pioneers of Piedmontese extraction entrepreneurship.
