Orienteering: the sport of the woods

Orienteering is a discipline that requires physical, mental, and strategic skills and, from an educational perspective, offers numerous interdisciplinary insights: not only does it relate Geography to Physical Education, but also involves notions related to Technical Education, Mathematics, and Sciences. It stimulates autonomy and decision-making skills in young people.

Methodology

The morning excursion will offer the opportunity to get to know the territory, the environment, and orientation techniques. The naturalistic notions provided by the guide will serve as a basis to answer the questions that the participants will encounter at the various stages of the orienteering race they will have to face in the afternoon. The purpose of the competition will be to reach, in the shortest time possible, a series of control points indicated by orienteering lanterns within a competition area, following the instructions on a topographic map.
