A new species documented in the Parks of the Cottian Alps by Luca Anselmo Aug. 5, 2026
The news is one that has an impact on public opinion: in the Protected Areas of the Cottian Alps, a species almost unknown in Italy has been found, with the first and last sighting dating back 90 years ago. It was published on July 31, 2026, in the scientific journal Biogeographia – The Journal of Integrative Biogeography thanks to the research conducted by biologist Luca Anselmo, a PhD student from the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology at the University of Turin, under the scientific responsibility of Simona Bonelli and Enrico Caprio as co-supervisors.
