Refuges and bivouacs
The Toesca refuge, owned by the Turin section of the Italian Alpine Club, entrusted to the U.E.T. subsection. Turin Hikers Union, is located in the Susa Valley, in the municipality of Bussoleno.
It is located at 1710 m above sea level, in the Pian del Roc area, in the Rio Gerardo valley, within the Orsiera-Rocciavrè natural park.
It can only be reached on foot, in about 1 hour and a half from the hamlet of Travers a Mont, in the municipality of San Giorio di Susa.
The refuge is a stopping point of the Giro dell'Orsiera. The refuge is present and always active on the Facebook social channel: @Rifugio.Alpino.Toesca
The Toesca refuge dates back to 1929 and has been gradually expanded and renovated over time, most recently in 1998.
Infos
By booking in advance we can organize educational stays for schools; retreats for sports teams; summer camps for kids; excursions with the Nature Guides of the Orsiera Rocciavrè Park. Please remember that for overnight stays at the refuge the use of a sheet bag is mandatory. Refuge goers are therefore invited to equip themselves with a sheet bag or sheets + pillowcase. Cotton sheet bags are available at the refuge which can be rented for the night or purchased .
In our refuge you can organize lunches with your family or friends, even for large groups!
Our menu includes:
- piedmontese and traditional Alpine starters;
- platters of selected cured meats and cheeses from the valley;
- traditional polenta, with sausage, stew and/or cheeses;
- homemade desserts and cakes;
- alternatives for vegetarians and celiacs.
And again: Anima craft beer, local wines and digestives.
