Discovering the ZSC Xerotermic Oases of the Susa Valley between history and nature

Excursion on the Juniper Trail in Foresto, immersed in an extraordinary natural landscape: marble banks, Mediterranean plants, all topped by the peak of Rocciamelone. Human presence is also evident, testifying to past life with terraces, ancient dry stone walls, and once cultivated and grazed meadows. These areas are now invaded by downy oak, wild cherry, and buckthorn, but the main feature is certainly the presence of the prickly juniper.

Excursion aimed at recognizing the prickly juniper (Juniperus oxycedrus).

Meeting at 9:00 am, at the Parish Church of San Giovanni Battista in Foresto. Suitable mountain hiking clothing and footwear required: long pants, hiking boots, water bottle. Bring packed lunch along the way. There are no water points on the trail. Full-day duration (return at 3:30 pm). Medium difficulty. Cost: 14 euros for adults, 7 euros for children/teenagers aged 6-16 years. Reservation required by Monday, September 16.
