Tournâ a menâ la bartavèllë: 12 meetings for the Occitan language in Alta Valle di Susa

Thursday, April 24 at 5:30 PM, Oulx, at the Casa delle Culture, fourth appointment of a cycle of 12 meetings dedicated to the Occitan language in the Alta Valle di Susa Getting Back to Speaking the Bartavèllë (returning to chatter, to speak our language).

Occitan speakers from the area are invited to gather testimonies useful for recovering the different local dialects, from Chiomonte to Sauze di Cesana, from Sestriere to Bardonecchia.

The initiative, realized by Chambra d'Oc on the occasion of the Chantar l'uvern festival, arises from the desire to recover the culture and local speech of the Alta Valle di Susa. Each evening, to which all Occitan speakers from the Alta Valle will be invited, will focus on a specific theme and excerpts from a local Occitan writer will be read (tradition, landscape, reading, proverbs and sayings, etc.). Renato Sibille, a local specialist in Occitan literature and language, will give a historical introduction followed by readings to stimulate the stories of those present. There will be moments of exchange and discussion: actively participating in conversations will help stimulate memories and aid in the reacquisition of the language through small achievements, such as learning some daily phrases.

From Epiphany to Easter, fragments of Occitan, Francoprovençal, and French language and culture": the cultural review that enhances original creations and promotes the Occitan, Francoprovençal, and French language and culture through a rich and widespread territorial animation with musical, theatrical, anthropological, documentary, and environmental events.
