The Region appoints Elio Pulzoni as President of the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps.

Elio Pulzoni is the new president of the Protected Areas of the Cottian Alps. Last week, Alberto Cirio, President of the Piedmont Region, signed the appointment decree, which comes after three years of presidency by Lawyer Alberto Valfrè, who also led the Agency during the last year of commissioning.

The new president, with a background in forestry, has extensive experience in the management of Piedmontese regional parks. He was the first director of the management body of the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Natural Park from 1985 to 2002. He has also held overlapping director roles for the Val Troncea Natural Park, served as deputy director of the Mandria Park, and as director of the management body of the Parks and Nature Reserves of Canavese.

After over twenty years of management career in the Piedmont Region, during which he worked at the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences, the Promotion of Culture, Tourism and Sport Directorate, and the Regional Technical Sector of Cuneo, he also held the role of responsible director of the Regional Technical Sector for the Metropolitan Area of Turin and the Seismic Sector. He was deputy director of the Public Works, Soil Defense, Mountain, Forests, Civil Protection, Transport, and Logistics Directorate.

In political fields, he served as Councillor for the City of Venaria Reale, with responsibilities for Environment, Controls, Authorizations for environmental protection plans and programs, Energy, Energy aspects of public and private mobility, and Waste Cycle. Currently, he is a minority councilor for the Municipality of Oulx. After this long career, he returns to the Protected Areas with a new directive and political governance role.

The appointment decree, signed by the President of the Regional Council – act no. 102/2025/XII of November 27, 2025 – identifies, alongside President Elio Pulzoni, the members of the new Council of the body as follows:
• Roberta Allora representing the territory of the Val Troncea Natural Park,
• Luca Rossi representing the territory of the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Natural Park,
• Remo Tabasso representing the natural park of the Avigliana Lakes,
• Simone Periale representing the territory of the Orsiera Rocciavré Natural Park,
• Andrea Zussino representing environmental associations.
The appointment of the Council member representing Agricultural Associations has been postponed.

The position is assumed after the completion of the regional procedure initiated with the reopening of the terms for the submission of applications for the appointment of the Council President on August 7 (supplement no. 4 of BUR no. 32 of August 7, 2025) and the subject of the meeting with the Protected Areas Community of the agency on October 29, 2025.

The terms of the Council members commence from the date of November 27, 2025, and last until the end of the current legislative term as provided for by Article 15, paragraph 7 of the regional law of June 29, 2009, no. 19 and subsequent amendments (Consolidated Text on the protection of natural areas and biodiversity).

The Director of the Agency, Luca Marello, thanks Lawyer Valfrè for the guidance and the work done together and welcomes the new Administration, emphasizing how this could restore full operational capacity to the Agency after a year of stalemate.
