The end of summer is approaching, bringing with it the mushroom picking season that attracts numerous enthusiasts every year.

In the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps and in the sites of the Natura 2000 network managed by the Park Authority, mushroom picking is regulated by National Law 352/1993 and Regional Law 24/2007, meaning it is allowed for all permit holders, except for the following specific limitations:

  • in the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Natural Park, the collection, removal, damage, or possession of epigeous fungi, even non-edible ones, is prohibited, except for the exercise of the right of civic use of fungi in favor of local communities (pursuant to art. 14 Regional Law April 22, 1991, no. 16);
  • in the Val Troncea Natural Park, all the activities listed above are prohibited according to the naturalistic plan regulations.

The Management Body of the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps issues permits for mushroom picking valid throughout the regional territory (daily €5, weekly €10, annual €30, biennial €60, triennial €90). More information and instructions for payment can be found at the following link.

To avoid the risk of mushroom poisoning, it is advisable to submit the collected specimens to the Mycological Inspection of ASL To3, which is active free of charge at the following locations:
