On Wednesday, March 18th in San Giorio di Susa at the multipurpose hall - Via Carlo Carli 148, the third meeting of the series of encounters dedicated to the environment BiodivTourAlps: for more conscious views and steps.
Useful animals, uncomfortable animals: an anthropological and epidemiological perspective. Ordinary people have a series of ideas related to animals (e.g. ticks are parasites that are 'caught' like one catches the flu, bees are "good" because they make honey...), but what is true and what is instead the result of incorrect perceptions? And furthermore: are there only biological reasons that motivate likes and dislikes towards certain species, or does culture also play a role? Laura Tomassone, Associate Professor in Veterinary Epidemiology, Department of Veterinary Sciences, and Lia Zola, Associate Professor of Cultural Anthropology, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and Modern Cultures - University of Turin, will attempt to investigate, from a perspective that bridges epidemiology and anthropology, why some animals are "liked" more than others.
The initiative is organized by the Parks of the Cozie Alps in collaboration with the Felce e Mirtillo Association as part of the Bio-slow Resistance project, it is sponsored by the municipalities of San Giorio and Mompantero, and by the Mountain Union Valle Susa, and is promoted in the XVII edition of the Chantar l'Uvèrn event - from Candelore to May 1st.
