The 2026 Calendar is available in a cross-border format titled: We Are in the Park! Nous sommes dans le Parc! An invitation to respect simple rules, not just because we are in a Park, not because it is prohibited but because it is right!
The Calendar of the Cozie Alps Parks has been created this year as part of the European ALCOTRA 2021-2027 program thanks to the project BiodivTourAlps Project (Biodiversity and Tourism) together with the French national parks, Ecrins, Mercantour and Vanoise, the Gran Paradiso national park, the Maritime Alps protected areas, and the Liguri Alps regional park. The common activity in the BiodivTourAlps project aims to develop effective proposals for the conservation of biodiversity and to reduce the impacts of tourism activities on the environment and natural resources in protected areas, improving the understanding and management of human-nature interactions.
The theme accompanying the monthly panels - from January 2026 to January 2027 - draws the public's attention to the coexistence between conservation needs and those of enjoyment. This task is not always easy because to pursue the former, it is necessary to limit the latter through enjoyment regulations, behavioral norms, and prohibitions (periodic or absolute).
The regulations - writes Luca Giunti in the introduction to the calendar - vary from area to area, from country to country, sometimes from season to season. It is impossible to gather them all, but – in an ideal world – one rule would suffice: leave the place as you found it. Possibly even better: do not leave waste – obviously – and if you find one that isn’t yours, take it away even if it isn’t yours! This international calendar attempts to describe some precautions that can help maintain a balance between our leisure activities and the natural lives that surround us. Because it is the small actions, repeated by many people, that can protect biodiversity and reduce the impacts of human presence on environments and their inhabitants.
The Calendar consists of original panels designed, in this edition, by Elio Giuliano and Valentina Mangini. The texts by Luca Giunti, shared with project partners, were translated into French by Agnès Dijaux and Violaine Tironi while the editorial work was managed by Anselmina Coletti, under the coordination of the Communication Area of the Authority.
The Calendar is distributed as part of the activities of the BiodivToursAlps project and will be distributed to all Schools in the Municipalities of the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps.
