On Saturday, March 21 at 4 PM in Salbertrand, at the headquarters of the Gran Bosco Natural Park on via Fransuà Fontan 1, there will be a presentation of the book Historical Mills of Piedmont edited by Marianna Sasanelli and Emanuela Genre of the Italian Association of Historical Mills.
A text to discover stories, uniqueness, and traditions of Piedmont through unique witnesses: the mills.
The development of the art of milling has been one of the most significant moments in the development of Western civilization. The establishment of a mill has always brought with it social, economic, political, and technological interests, and even today, the water or wind mill remains a technological invention of fundamental importance, which over time has evolved to be used in various contexts: from grinding to mineral processing, from sawmills to oil mills.
Retracing the history of Piedmontese mills means rediscovering stories and traditions that have seemed secundary importance to many, but which have actually been fundamental parts of a broader historical process and the formation of the identity of our territory. A different guide, an original key to unveil the history and traditions of the Piedmontese territory, from the first Turin belt to Canavese, from Cuneo Valley to Ossola, from Pinerolo to Vercelli, from Valsesia to Susa Valley, from Sangone Valley to Novara and to Chieri hill.
