This morning, the press conference for the presentation of the Alpi Cozie Golf Trophy took place, a sporting event promoted by the management body of the protected areas of the Alpi Cozie that will be held during the summer of 2025 at the clubs in Pragelato, Sestriere, and Avigliana.
This appointment reaches its third edition this year thanks to the enthusiasm of the park authority commissioner, Alberto Valfré, who has managed to bring together a large number of enthusiasts and sponsors interested not only in the sporting and social aspects of the tournament but also in the protection and management of delicate ecosystems within the Alpi Cozie Parks. It consists of a stage circuit established by the three golf clubs that will take place on June 14 at the Pragelato Golf Club, on July 19 at the Sestrieres Golf Club, and on September 6 at the Le Fronde Golf Club (Avigliana).
"We are approaching the start of the Alpi Cozie Trophy," Valfré stated, "with the satisfaction of having created a reality that consolidates over time after successfully connecting three sports clubs with their respective municipalities and local economic activities within a Park Authority. Hence the slogan 'Golf, nature, beauty.' The goal is to promote sports and the environment in a uniquely beautiful setting with no cost to the Protected Areas of the Alpi Cozie thanks to the generosity of sponsors. In fact, we have already started fundraising, which will be donated to the association 'Sciare per sorridere,' which works to introduce children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Turin to skiing. The collected amount will be used to showcase the beauty of summer mountains and our Parks to the kids who participated in the winter courses."
The floor then went to the mayors of the involved municipalities.
"For me, this is the first edition," said Massimo Marchisio, mayor of Pragelato, "but I am happy to host an event that combines two strong aspects of our municipality: sports and the environment. I also find the collaboration between the clubs very positive, demonstrating how distant realities can come together through dialogue to create a system in a very important tourist context."
"I want to personally thank Alberto Valfré," intervened Gianni Poncet, mayor of Sestriere, "for the work done not only in organizing the trophy. Our municipality is not strictly part of the Park areas, but from a tourism perspective, it benefits from proximity to the Protected Areas of the Alpi Cozie. This initiative shows how a more open attitude from the Park Authority generates positive repercussions for everyone."
"I would like to present this third edition," concluded Andrea Archinà, mayor of Avigliana, "as an opportunity to outline a preliminary balance of the trophy. The aspect that best qualifies the initiative is the role of the Alpi Cozie Parks as a synthesis and dialogue element between very different realities, such as ours in the valley bottom and those in the high mountains. We had direct feedback in recent days when we met with the respective tourism consortia to start discussing tourism packages that can unite all territories, including a proposal centered on golf."
The press conference took place in the splendid setting of the Giardino Botanico Rea, in the municipality of Trana, in the presence of the mayor Cinzia Pachetti, who announced the start of important renovation works for the facility.
