The Mulino di Laval refuge takes its name from the historic Mulino di Laval, an ancient mill in the Laval hamlet where rye was ground when the nearby hamlets were still inhabited.
The mill also remained active as a sawmill until the post-war period, when the abandonment of the mountain became definitive.
Located upstream from Pragelato, in Val Chisone, the Laval Mill is one of the "entrance doors" to the Val Troncea Natural Park, an authentic Alpine paradise also known as the "valley of flowers".
In a setting of enchanting beauty, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in a landscape characterized by larch and hook pine forests with undergrowth of rhododendron, juniper, blueberry and green alder which offer spectacular foliage in the months of September and October.
Numerous birds of prey alongside the typical fauna ranging from the chamois, the recently reintroduced ibex, to the undisputed king of the territory, his majesty the deer whose love roar enchants the Valley in the month of October.
