The Il Truc refuge, a building constructed in the early 1960s, has always hosted people for whom the mountains were not only a passion, but also a true way of life.

The Il Truc refuge is located at an altitude of 1706 meters on an exceptional and airy panoramic balcony overlooking the mountains and the valley floor of the Susa Valley, in the hamlet of Truc di Mompantero, the highest along the road that climbs the slopes of the magnificent pyramid of Rocciamelone, the most famous mountain in the entire Susa Valley.

In addition to being a starting point for climbing Rocciamelone and numerous other hiking trails, the refuge also serves as a stop for the GTA, the Alta Via delle Alpi Graie, the Alta Via della Val di Susa, the Antica Via dei Monaci, the Anello 3000 and, of course, the Sentiero Italia CAI.

Infos

The shelter is powered by clean energy (solar panels) and can be reached on foot from Susa via a 2-hour mule track starting from Mompantero, or by car or motorbike within half an hour on the Susa - Riposa road.
