Opening period

Summer season only

The Rifugio Casa Assietta "Jack Canali" is located in the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Natural Park, at an altitude of 2509 meters between the Testa del Mottas and the Testa dell'Assietta, the scene of the historic battle between the Piedmontese and French armies in 1747, of which the entrenchments and redoubts are still visible.

The refuge is housed in the former Cantoniera House built in 1890 by the Military Engineers, integrated into the nineteenth-century fortified system of the ridge.

The building, owned by the Metropolitan City of Turin and leased to the Park Authority, was renovated and inaugurated in 2012. Inside, it accommodates a bar with a dining room, a kitchen, and, in the attic, 18 beds divided into rooms. It is equipped with photovoltaic panels for electricity production.

It is located along the Strada provinciale dell'Assietta, subject to regulation in the summer season, and on the route of the GTA and Via Alpina from Salbertrand to Usseaux.
