Parcheggio nel Parco naturale Val Troncea- Bivio Seytes (Pragelato) - Alba Meirone

Regulation

The regulation for vehicular circulation within the Val Troncea Natural Park is based on the rules contained in the Park area's Plan, approved by the Regional Council with deliberation no. 719-2180 on 01.03.1994.

In particular, the following articles:

  • Art. 12 "Parking": According to the competences assigned to the Park Plan regarding the regulation of vehicular and pedestrian accessibility systems from article 12, sub c), of law December 6, 1991, no. 394, in order to promote better hiking use of the valley floor, the vehicular barrier point is located at the downstream boundary of the Park: therefore, the parking areas located upstream of it must be deactivated; only some areas for parking service and surveillance vehicles may be maintained; permits must be provided for vehicles used by disabled individuals and for agriculture-silo-pastoral uses. Consequently, the entrance gate to the Park must be relocated.
  • Art. 13 "Roads and trails": Given the large number of hikers, access for motorized vehicles must be limited to service and emergency vehicles, as well as for the agricultural-silo-pastoral uses provided by the founding law, and the barrier point should be relocated at the junction to the village of Laval, corresponding to the Park boundary (according to regional law August 9, 1989, no. 45, article 2, paragraphs 6 and 7, and regional law August 30, 1988, no. 40).”

In order to better regulate and articulate the categories of vehicles authorized for exceptions, identified by the Area Plan, the entity has equipped itself with a management tool called “Guidelines for issuing permits for transit along the valley floor road of Val Troncea pursuant to articles 12 and 13 of the area plan.” This tool was initially approved by Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Val Troncea Natural Park no. 08/2007 on 04/07/2007 and subsequently updated by the resolution of the Council of the Management Entity of the protected areas of the Cozie Alps no. 31 on 18/12/2017.

It follows that from the boundary with the Park, where the parking area named Bivio Seytes is located, access for motorized vehicles is only allowed upon the issuance of a permit provided by the Management Entity of the protected areas of the Cozie Alps at the front office of the Pragelato office or at the Information Point of the Baracot of Laval during the opening season.

There are no permanent transit permits for the Val Troncea natural park area, and multi-annual permits (max 5 years) are not valid during the opening period of the cross-country ski trail, in which the road becomes a ski area and the Municipality issues a specific closure order for the roadway.
