The dancers of the old ball

On Saturday, February 8, in Mompantero, in the multipurpose hall, at 5 PM there will be a workshop dedicated to the dances of Sanfront (Valle Po) with Laura and Umberto Borsetti.

Following this, there will be a screening of the documentary film by Andrea Fantino produced by Chambra d'Oc in collaboration with the Balerin del Bal Veij and Piemonte Cultura, and featuring Laura Borsetti, Umberto Borsetti, Margherita Ferrato, Maria Canavese, Maria Bessone, Letizia Ferrato, Margherita Malvezzi, Michelina Martino, Giuseppina Ferrato.

The film is dedicated to the dances of Sanfront in Valle Po: courenta sembia, courenta baratoira, balet, giga, bourea, inglesa, tersa, tola, spousin, dances that were performed in Sant'Agata and surrounding areas during celebrations, on weekdays, both publicly and privately. It takes a step back in time with valuable witnesses, fragile and strong memories together, a film with women who tell and recount their stories, often having fun and entertaining those who listen. The tenderness of a distant world that seems to return every time a melody or choreography is heard and danced again.

As part of the se tenth edition of "Chantar l'Uvèrn. From Epiphany to Easter, fragments of Occitan, Franco-Provençal and French language and culture": the cultural exhibition that enhances original creations and promotes the Occitan, Franco-Provençal and French language and culture through a rich and extensive territorial animation with musical, theatrical, anthropological, documentary, and environmental events.
