The LIFE Predator Project works to counter the spread of the Wels Catfish, an alien and invasive species.

As part of the Project, some of the funds from the European Community have been allocated to raise awareness among adults and young people about the impact of species introduced by humans on natural environments.

Description

The philosophy of coexistence

The educational activity aims to investigate the differences between native and non-native species and develop a reflection with the students on the value of difference.

Methodology

Two hours of classroom lessons.
Excursion to the Small Lake of Avigliana to reflect on diversity in the natural environment and in the human social context.
Inclusivity games.

Recommended period

It is possible to carry out the activity in all seasons.

Duration

Class meeting of 2 consecutive hours
Field trip all day

Trasporti

The Avigliana Lakes Natural Park can be reached by train and/or bus.
For those arriving by train, there is a public bus service from the train station (for the schedules click here)
Cost borne by the school

Recommended equipment

  • Long trousers
  • Hiking boots or shoes with non-smooth, waterproof soles (for the possible presence of mud along the path).
  • Small backpack with packed lunch and water bottle
  • Tick and mosquito repellent
  • K-way

Costs

The activities are free until places are filled.
