The 2024 calendar of the Parks of the Cottian Alps is dedicated to the Special Conservation Areas (SIC) managed by the organization.

The Natura 2000 network is a system of areas subject to special protection spread throughout the territory of the European Union created to ensure the maintenance of natural habitats, threatened or rare species of flora and fauna, and biodiversity as a whole. The regulatory sources of the Natura 2000 network are the Habitat Directive and the Birds Directive.

Part of the Natura 2000 network includes:

- Sites of Community Importance (SIC), identified according to what is established by the Habitat Directive;

- Special Conservation Areas (ZSC), which are the SIC for which the regions have prepared the respective site and species-specific Conservation Measures and have been designated as such by ministerial decree, in agreement with the interested region;

- Special Protection Areas (ZPS), established according to the Birds Directive.
