Landscape

Ultimo aggiornamento: April 2, 2024

The European treaty n. 176 of 2000 encourages public authorities to adopt policies and measures at local, regional, national and international level for the protection, management and planning of landscapes in Europe.

The convention concerns all landscapes, both exceptional and ordinary, and recognizes their significant role in determining the quality of life of the inhabitants.

This text aims to apply legal and financial measures at a national and international level, aimed at creating "landscape policies" and promoting interactions between local and central authorities, as well as cross-border cooperation for the protection of landscapes.

With the establishment of Protected Areas, we have attempted to enhance certain portions of territory with particular characteristics. It is the latter's task to protect natural resources through sustainable management strategies and to reconstruct the natural and semi-natural environments that constitute habitats necessary for the conservation and enrichment of biodiversity. The action to recover landscape-environmental values is also very important.

Our organization has been personally involved through participation in various projects such as:

  • Life XERO GRAZING: project for the management, conservation and recovery of the xerothermal grasslands of the Susa Valley through pastoral management;
  • PASTORAL MANAGEMENT AS A TOOL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT: Project created with the aim of carrying out pastoral interventions (through mandrature, wildlife salt points and water points) and of maintaining and increasing the open areas in the mountain and subalpine plains;
  • M.A.S.K.A. "Marginal Areas. Sustainability and Know-how in the Alps": research project with the aim of documenting, observing and supporting the process of reconversion of marginal lands into productive areas, making the reuse of uncultivated lands possible and reactivating both the supply chain economic, both cultural and territorial;
  • WORKSHOP "ECOMUSEUMS AND LANDSCAPE" (7 May 2016): The "Piedmont Ecomuseum Network" association has assumed a role of reference for the protection of the landscape based not on constraints but on raising awareness and training respect on the part of local communities. Yes started by carrying out field research and then went on to spread knowledge, passing through management and planning.
