Meeting to share the results of the Contemporary Day with the bearded vulture 2024 - Laura Antiquario

On Saturday, October 12th, the International Observation Day of the bearded vulture, named IOD International Observation Day, took place simultaneously throughout the Alps and was organized by IBM International Bearded Vulture Monitoring.

The park rangers representing the Ente di Gestione delle Aree Protette delle Alpi Cozie, Giuseppe Roux Poignant and Silvia Alberti, in collaboration with Robi Janavel from the Unione Montana Pinerolese, as usual, were in charge of organizing and coordinating the observation points in their respective territories.

On Saturday, November 23rd, in Pragelato, a convivial meeting allowed for sharing the results.
Thanks to the collaboration of volunteers, institutions, and associations, 35 observation points were covered in the Susa Valley, Chisone Valley, Val Pellice, and Germanasca Valley, with 65 observers taking part.

The variable weather conditions allowed for good visibility only in the high valleys, where 24 observations were recorded, totaling 9 different bearded vultures, including 2 adults, 2 subadults, 4 immatures, and 1 young bird.

Thanks to the numerous forces involved and the thorough coverage of the territory, not only the presence of bearded vultures but also eagles, griffon vultures, a bearded vulture, and territorial occupation methods in our valleys were confirmed.

A thank you to all participants, institutions, and associations who once again made it possible to carry out a successful census this year.

Next appointment: Saturday, December 14, 2024, in Valdieri (Piazza Regina Elena, 30) for the annual meeting on Project Migrans and Project Bearded Vulture
