Humans rarely associate the mating season with autumn. Instead, for red deers, the breeding period is concentrated in these months, followed by births in spring and the phase of greatest growth and development of the cubs in the most favorable period, which is summer.
Interestingly, just when the vegetation prepares for the long winter rest, the forests of the Protected Areas of the Cozie Alps come alive with majestic and powerful love calls. These are the roars that deer emit to demonstrate their strength to rivals and to maintain control over the females of the harem. Deep guttural sounds, halfway between a bellow and a roar, echo widely in the forests at dusk between September and October and can easily be heard with the accompaniment of an experienced Guide.
To offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy this spectacle safely and without disturbing the wildlife, the Parks of the Cozie Alps propose a series of guided excursions by Official Guides. Here is the complete list!

Thematic excursion with the official Guides of the Cozie Alps Parks in the Natural Park of Gran Bosco di Salbertrand
Duration: half a day with return at night, medium difficulty trail. Bring suitable clothing and footwear, packed dinner and water, torch or headlamp.
Meeting point: 14:45 at the equipped area of Ser Blanc, Monfol - Sauze d'Oulx.
Guided tour cost: 14 euros for adults, 7 euros for children/teens aged 6-16.
